I love this machine! It makes delicious fresh ground coffee with the push of a button. I did find the instructions a little confusing. I recommend watching a video or two first. There’s a side door that is accessed when the water tank is removed. This door was taped shut for shipping. The internal mechanism is removed through this door for cleaning. It takes a bit of practice to get it in and out. I wish the water tank was a bit larger. This water is also used when the device rinses itself. Rinse water collects in the base tray and needs to be poured out regularly. The coffee grounds collect in its own container. My one complaint is the coffee bean hopper. It is pretty shallow. The slope to the grinder is also shallow. The beans sometimes need a push over to that side. The lid is very easy to remove and reinstall so it’s not hard to do. It makes espresso sized servings. You can increase the serving size a bit. I select a double to get a regular sized cup of coffee. I find myself enjoying fresh coffee more often that I did with my drip machine. It let’s you know if it needs to be drained or if the used grounds need emptying.

The PHILIPS Series 4400 Espresso Machine delivers exceptional cafe-quality drinks right at home. It offers a wide range of 12 coffee varieties, from rich espressos to refreshing iced coffees, all consistently delicious.I’m particularly impressed by the One-Touch LatteGo Frothing feature, which creates silky-smooth froth effortlessly, even with plant-based milk alternatives. The 100% ceramic grinders and multiple grind settings ensure a rich coffee taste with customizable aroma strength options. The machine operates quietly thanks to SilentBrew Technology, and its intuitive display makes it easy to adjust coffee strength, volume, and milk froth preferences. The QuickStart function allows for instant brewing, eliminating wait times. While some users have mentioned concerns about coffee temperature and value for money, I find this coffee maker worth every penny for the best cafe lattes I’ve ever had at home.

When I saw this new model, I picked it up right away. The first one I got was missing the bean hopper cover so I sent it back and got a replacement. The second one I got was fully in tact and I was super excited. I set the machine up as directed in the instruction and started trying out the different preset drinks. The sound of the machine was definitely quieter than my Breville Barista Express and the milk frother worked splendidly.I was surprised when the “espresso” came out almost like a drip coffee would. The automatic grinder didn’t not grind a full dose, or a standard dose for a double shot and if I manually put in the proper dose for even a single dose of ground coffee the. The machine would discard most of it in the dump tray. The grinder was also sub par in its ability to grind down to a fine espresso. The grind size was not of a drip coffee or even a French press grind size. I did use my other grinder to make a proper fine grind dose but that completely clogged the machine up.So for me this is not something I would get. I like having more control over my espresso machine in order to make quality drinks. This machine would do well for someone who wants a hassle free coffee machine though. The ease of use is phenomenal and anyone who simply wants a coffee drink would be happy with it. I in the other hand want true espresso. I know this sounds elites but I’m a snob when it come to my espresso.

What type of manufacturer puts a big sticker on the clear plastic bean hopper lid that won’t come off. Big old white plastic glue and the visual appeal of the machine is ruined. Fail.

I am very pleased with this Phillips 4400 automatic espresso machine. I used to manually make espressos and steamed milk and I enjoyed the process and it was delicious. But it was hard to make breakfast and cappuccinos and have everything served warm. Just too much to do at once.So I am thrilled with having an automatic espresso maker. And I like that it’s can do numerous other drinks. I found the grinding, brewing and steaming processes were quieter than I had expected. The machine is easy to use. The instructions were mostly diagrams so I found it more useful to download the HomeID app that had written instructions (with photos and sometimes videos) plus articles and recipes. The machine can make a nice variety of espresso drinks. Cappuccinos are our favorite so that is what we use most. I used soy milk in the milk container and I found the automatic steaming to be pretty good. The machine lets you select the strength (meaning how many coffee beans it uses), the size of the espresso dispensed in ounces and how much steamed milk. It then saves it into one of the profiles. My video shows that process. The grinding can be set to be more fine or course one level at a time while the coffee beans are grinding. The reason for that is to prevent damage to the ceramic blades. This is probably the least convenient feature of this machine.I like that the water tank is a good height that can fit under my water dispenser of my refrigerator. The machine always asks about the AquaClean filter every time I turn it on, but we chose not to use that filter as our water is already filtered. Most drinks can only be brewed one at a time, but you can make two cups of espresso at once. Whenever the espresso dispenses it always does so through both dispensers. The height of the espresso dispensers can be moved up or down depending upon the height of the cup or glass. When we turn the machine off it flushes water through those dispensers so we think it’s a good idea to put a cup underneath although the tray should catch the water.I wanted to note that when dispensing hot water the milk container should be removed (which is easily done) as the milk container covers the hot water dispenser.

The PHILIPS Series 4400 Fully Automatic LatteGo Espresso Machine has completely transformed my coffee routine. I used to spend about $20 daily on Starbucks, but now I don’t spend a dime! This machine allows me to make around four cups a day, and each one is perfect. The setup was straightforward, but I recommend running the espresso option a few times before tasting to ensure everything is flowing smoothly. Once you do, the flavor is outstanding. The iced drink option is also incredible, delivering refreshing and delicious coffee every time. The convenience and quality of this machine are unmatched. The LatteGo system is easy to use and clean, and it froths milk beautifully. If you’re a coffee enthusiast looking to save money without compromising on taste, this espresso machine is a must-have. Highly recommend it!

Returning this item. I would give it zero stars if that was an option. The coffee quality is awful and no amount of trouble-shooting/adjustments to the settings have improved the quality.

Might be just the unit I got, but this coffee machine does not live up to the expectations and definitely not worth the price you pay. It simply would not grind enough coffee beans, making the drinks watery and weak. I tried different modes and different types of coffee and all I got was watery slightly brown coffee. All drinks tasted like plastic no matter how many times the machine is being used.

This is a great purchase. Compared to the lousy coffee quality from expensive k-cup coffee makers, this is a no-brainer. You get freshly ground expresso coffee or a wide variety of coffees, all selected by touch screen. It is very easy to use and easy to program. It even has profiles so my wife and I can enjoy different strength cappuccino coffees without having to constantly adjust the machine. The milk system is easy and pretty pain-free to maintain. A quick rinse of the ‘chute’ after a use is all that is needed on a daily basis.Cleaning the machine more thoroughly is a bit more involved. You do have to remove the brew group and clean it periodically. That is common for super-automatic machines except for the much more expensive Jura machines that are effectively self-cleaning.It’s a pretty compact unit, which is good and bad. I like that it has a small footprint and fits under my wall cabinets. But having to fill the water tank by pulling out the container from the front and then pushing firmly to ‘seat’ it back in is a bit of work compared to a top-filling machine. Ultimately, this is a choice – compact and under-cabinet vs. easy filling. Just know what you want to prioritize. Also, the grinder setting is bit of a pain to adjust. You can only do it while it is grinding. And they say it takes a few cups before you can judge the ‘new’ setting. And you can only change it 1 notch at. a time. So getting it to shift 3 or 4 notches while checking it along the way will have you going through a lot of coffee. To be fair, the setting that comes from the factory is fine. So I do not change it.I like the option of the cold brew coffee. It actually just uses the room temperature water in the tank and pushes through the coffee and you use some ice cubes in the cup to chill it down. But it does not make cold milk-based drinks like the top of the line 5500 model or the very expensive but excellent Jura X10.All super automatic express machines are expensive compared to a $40 Mr. Coffee. And there is still a range of price points for the super automatics, mostly varied by features. This Philips 440 strikes an amazing value point since it is one-touch for all the milk based drinks, does some basic cold brew, is super easy to maintain and even allows different settings for the same drink for two different people in the house. Compared to Gaggia or Jura with similar features, this is a bargain.

I got this to be able to make espresso drinks at home in an easy way. This machine works really nicely for that, especially how the milk frother works. We are quite happy with the product, the only issue is that a piece of it showed up damaged. While support is willing to help, they don’t have any of the parts available to send us. It is a part that doesn’t impact use, thankfully, but given the cost of this I expect to receive unbroken parts.
